What Do Real Keto Diet Results Look Like?

by | Jun 8, 2021 | Weight Loss Tips | 0 comments

I’m still in early days when it comes to recording keto diet results.  Feels like I’ve been doing this for quite some time, but I’m still only several weeks in.  Still, I’d like to share what my progress looks like so far. It’s not that I can guarantee that everyone will have the same outcomes that I have, but I’ve found myself looking it up for my own purposes, so maybe you’ll be interested, too.

My Keto Diet Results in the First “Week”

I found my real first week on the ketogenic diet extremely hard. This was before I started with KETO FASTCUT, and I had a gory case of the keto flu. If it wasn’t for the fact that I couldn’t let Holly feel like she was right, I might have given up.  She’s my best friend and was super nice to invite me to blog with her here…but still, I can’t let her be right!

So, the first few days were rough, and I didn’t really weigh myself because I didn’t honestly care about anything other than getting my ketosis started and not feeling awful anymore.

Therefore, when I talk about the first week of my dieting, I’m talking about the 7 days starting when I didn’t feel like trash anymore. I admit that the diet pills really did help to reach that point. I don’t know if I was doing things wrong or if my body was just reallllllly resistant to ketosis, but it was only just over 24 hours after I started taking them that I started feeling better and suddenly got all that energy everyone always talks about.

Weight Loss in the First 7 Days

After I started feeling better, I found the habits far easier to keep up. It was a bit of a culture shock, but after I stepped on the scale and saw that the keto diet results after 7 days involved several pounds, I was definitely on board. I’ve heard that people can drop anywhere from 2 to 10 pounds during that first week, and I was absolutely within that range.

It’s mostly water weight, but it still feels great to see it gone. The reason this happens is that carbs retain water when the body stores them. So, when carb intake is restricted, the body loses the stored carbohydrates (glycogen) and the water goes with it. This helps to explain why it’s sooooo important to hydrate during this time. I definitely did. It’s this point that ketosis is reached and when the carb stores are gone, the body focuses on stored fat burning instead.

My Keto Diet Results in the First Month

A month later (so, technically 5 weeks in) my keto results were slower than that first week, but they were definitely faster than any other weight loss strategy I’ve tried.  I was surprised that I was able to stop my sugar cravings, because I was pretty sure that if anything was going to grind this whole thing to a halt, that would be it.  After a short time – a surprisingly short time – I stopped being tempted by sweets. It was amazing!

I started learning great beginner keto tips and proudly kept them up without cheating too much at all.  Again, my determination not to give Holly the chance to say “I told you so” was still driving me to stay on track. But also keeping me on track were my steady keto diet results on the bathroom scale. At this point, I’d lost just slightly more than ten pounds, averaging about 2 pounds per week.  To me, that’s a victory. Still in a healthy range, but steady and solid results that I could definitely see.  My clothes fit differently, and I felt better overall.

I’m at about the two month point now. I’ll keep updating as I go, both here and on Facebook. Wish me luck!

What is Nutritional Psychology? Can It Help Weight Control?

Nutritional psychology is a subject I stumbled upon on social media – of all places – and that sent me into a massive online rabbit hole to better understand what it’s all about. Keeping in mind that even with all my best googling, I’m still eons from becoming an expert, I still thought this topic was fascinating enough that I wanted to share it.

Daily Sugary Drinks of All Kinds Lower Your Life Expectancy

I just read about the scariest study that now says that drinking sugary drinks on a daily basis can actually shorten your life.  The horrifying thing about it is that I have always joked that a certain giant pop or gas station slushy or other syrup-based beverage was likely cutting a day off my life.

The 2021 Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen Lists for Fruits and Vegetables

A couple of weeks ago, I talked about research suggesting organic foods might help prevent weight gain, so this week seemed like a natural jump into the 2021 Dirty Dozen list.  The reason is that while I’m taking organic foods far more seriously as a part of my shopping list, I wanted to know if I should just get some organics or try to eat only organics.
