I’ve decided to read a bunch of healthy lifestyle books this year. If I’m going to really focus on wellness in 2022, then it only makes sense that I should educate myself in this area. I hardly consider myself an expert. Even though I made some great progress last year, I’m ready to give my lifestyle some fine-tuning to make it even better.
My List of Healthy Lifestyle Books to Read in 2022
I’ve come up with a list of three healthy lifestyle books that I’ve promised myself I’ll read this year. I’ve got my copies – some print, some ebooks – and I’m going to take my time going through them. These aren’t beach reads for me. I want to learn from them.
The healthy lifestyle books on my 2022 list are:
- The Beauty of Dirty Skin – This is a bit of a technical book, broken down into language those of us without medical degrees can understand. Its subheading is “The Surprising Science of Looking and Feeling Radiant from the Inside Out”, and it was written by dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe. After a few years of focusing on making everything sterilized, this book talks about the benefits of not overdoing it. This isn’t to say that we shouldn’t wash our hands very regularly or bathe, for that matter, but that the typical habits we’ve adopted in the name of hygiene could actually be working against our health and beauty. Interesting stuff, right?
- The Bad Food Bible – Love this title. The subtitle “How and Why to Eat Sinfully” got me too. It’s by Dr. Aaron E. Carroll, a doctor who often writes for the New York Times Upshot and is the host of Healthcare Triage on YouTube. Love this guy. His information sharing style, his perspective on medicine, the whole thing. His latest just had to be in my list of healthy lifestyle books to read in 2022!
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck – This book by Mark Manson is subtitled “A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life”. I admit that I don’t know much about this except that I’ve seen it all over social media, and I want to find out what the hype is about. If it does some good for my mental health and happiness, all the better!
An Extra Cookbook I’m Adding to My List
I’m also adding the Oh She Glows Every Day cookbook to my list, though it didn’t really seem to belong in the list above. It’s another hyped book, this one by Angela Liddon, and a few of my friends are always recommending one recipe or another from it. It’s plant-based, healthy, and the recipes I’ve tried from it are incredible. We’ll see if it works its way into my regular meal rotation!
