Dieting Tips When You’ve Got a Busy Life

It’s all well and good for us to know that losing weight is done most effectively when we make all our meals with whole foods, from scratch, and when we do some kind of workout every day, but for those of us with a busy life, that is much easier said than done. These days, it’s tough to find enough time to make a five minute phone call let alone prepare elaborate meals and head to the gym for an hour.

However, as much as it may seem like weight loss is impossible when our schedules are already maxed out, that’s not actually the case. The following are some great dieting tips that can help you to make sure you fit weight loss into your everyday life:

• Fit your workout in immediately before or after work. If you want to make sure you get your workout done, the best time to do it is right before work or right afterward. If you can discipline yourself to head out for a walk every day or if you can find a gym that is very close to your workplace, then you will be more likely to use it every day than if your workout is something that you put off until after you’ve settled into other tasks.
• Buddy up with someone from work. See if anyone else on your team is interested in joining you in getting fit and losing weight. It’s far easier to stay on track when it becomes a social activity and you can support each other.
• Track your calories. This may sound like a nuisance but if you’ve never done it before, you’ll be blown away with the difference it can make. If you have done it before it might be time for you to give yourself a refresher and pick it back up for a while. The best part about tracking is that you don’t have to do it forever. Just keep it up for a few months. This will give you time to hold yourself accountable for what you eat, to understand your food and to build some great habits for keeping within a reasonable calorie range.
• Plan your meals. You don’ t need to plan every single thing you eat for the next week, but plan for the next few days, pick up the ingredients you need at the grocery store, and then stick to the plan. Then, after a few days have passed, do it again. You’ll find that you always have great meals because you’ll waste less time stewing over what to eat and will be able to get down to cooking them right away. You’ll also snack more intelligently because you’ll have the items ready to grab.

Use these dieting tips to give you the chance to lose weight without sacrificing a lot of time.

Most of Us Think we’re Making Far Better Healthy Food Choices Than We Are

Most of Us Think we’re Making Far Better Healthy Food Choices Than We Are

I like to think that I’m making some healthy food choices, for the most part. I know my diet isn’t perfect. I don’t even aim for perfect. I’d have to give up too much of my favorite treats to get to that point. I don’t even think that focusing too much on nutrition is great for your overall wellbeing. A bit of fun has its place now and then. That said, according to this new study I’ve read, we Americans think we’re doing far better than we are, and it’s really holding us back!

What Exactly is a Calorie Deficit for Weight Loss?

What Exactly is a Calorie Deficit for Weight Loss?

I’d heard about the need for a calorie deficit about a million times before I actually looked into what it was. Now, I understand that the name pretty much explains what it is. I got it on the most basic level. If I wanted to lose weight, I needed to burn more calories than I was taking in. That said, when it comes to putting things into practice, the situation became less obvious to me. I admit that it took freaking forever for me to actually look it up.

Running and Dehydration: A Brutal Combination

Running and Dehydration: A Brutal Combination

Running and dehydration pretty much go hand-in-hand during the summer months. As someone who has taken up running relatively recently and is facing her first summer with the sport, this is very new to me, though not unexpected. That said, as I’ve been researching, I’ve also discovered that the combination, while brutal, isn’t exactly what many of us assume it is, particularly when it comes to difficulty level.
