Don’t Let Summer Fun Ruin Your Diet

by | Jun 24, 2015 | Dieting Tricks | 0 comments

Summertime is here and you have been doing your best to achieve your hottest bikini body and to keep the weight coming off. However, some of the most innocent seeming parts of summer can derail all of your efforts in a surprisingly short amount of time when it comes to your diet.

If you want to make sure that you have fun in the sun and look your best at the same time, then make sure that you are using these great summer tips to keep the weight coming off.

Take a Daycation – If you find that you are getting into a dieting slump, then use your next free morning, afternoon, or even whole day to take a little vacation. You don’t need to go far. You just have to get away and do something new. It will freshen your spirit and take you away from all of the different triggers in your daily life that cause you to feel too lazy to do your exercises or to snack when you know you shouldn’t on your diet. Try to go somewhere that will have you doing a lot of walking, and look for a place to eat where you can refuel with something hugely flavorful but that will be healthy, too.

Calorie Check Your Cocktails – A margarita may sound great, but at 153 calories each, suddenly an alternative might sound a lot better. Get creative. Try an ounce of high quality vodka mixed with a dusting of ginger powder in some soda water. It’s refreshing and fun and only 60 calories. Plus, the ginger will give your body a temporary fat burning boost while you’re at it.

Eat a Great Breakfast – If you have to, do some of the prep the night before. The better your breakfast, the more control you will have by the time lunchtime comes around so that you’ll eat smarter and won’t base your decisions on hunger, alone. Try adding a fantastic smoothie to your breakfast that includes some mango, coconut, chia seeds, fresh lime juice, almond milk, and ground turmeric. It will give you a great flavor, lots of vitamins, a hunger busting mix, and will even help to protect your skin against UVB damage.

Drink Water – Yes, this tip makes it to every list, but that should show you how important it is. Stay hydrated. It will make you look better, feel better, it will help you burn calories, and it will keep hunger away so you don’t ruin your diet.

Most of Us Think we’re Making Far Better Healthy Food Choices Than We Are

Most of Us Think we’re Making Far Better Healthy Food Choices Than We Are

I like to think that I’m making some healthy food choices, for the most part. I know my diet isn’t perfect. I don’t even aim for perfect. I’d have to give up too much of my favorite treats to get to that point. I don’t even think that focusing too much on nutrition is great for your overall wellbeing. A bit of fun has its place now and then. That said, according to this new study I’ve read, we Americans think we’re doing far better than we are, and it’s really holding us back!

What Exactly is a Calorie Deficit for Weight Loss?

What Exactly is a Calorie Deficit for Weight Loss?

I’d heard about the need for a calorie deficit about a million times before I actually looked into what it was. Now, I understand that the name pretty much explains what it is. I got it on the most basic level. If I wanted to lose weight, I needed to burn more calories than I was taking in. That said, when it comes to putting things into practice, the situation became less obvious to me. I admit that it took freaking forever for me to actually look it up.

Running and Dehydration: A Brutal Combination

Running and Dehydration: A Brutal Combination

Running and dehydration pretty much go hand-in-hand during the summer months. As someone who has taken up running relatively recently and is facing her first summer with the sport, this is very new to me, though not unexpected. That said, as I’ve been researching, I’ve also discovered that the combination, while brutal, isn’t exactly what many of us assume it is, particularly when it comes to difficulty level.
