I’m healed up from my injury and am ready to make running fun again. Since that’s my goal, I thought it’d be fun to share what I do to enjoy my new favorite sport. I’ve only been running for a few months, but I’m pretty sure each of these techniques would be just as helpful to seasoned runners as they are to newbies.
My Strategies to Make Running Fun
No matter your goals, the following tips can help to make running fun every time you head out. Yes, this sport is definitely challenging, but by using the right strategy, it will help you to keep feeling great about it while keeping up a relaxed and smiling attitude.
1 – Don’t Always Go It Alone
There are days, particularly in the very early morning, when I love the peace and tranquility of being out there by myself. That said, there are other times when I don’t care about being peaceful and mindful. Those are the times when I make running fun by going out with others. There is a local running room in my area, but now that I’ve been doing this for a little while, I’ve also started to recognize some of the “regulars” who are out at a similar time. It can be a lot of fun to meet up with someone else and get some exercise together.
2 – Switch Things Up
If you’re looking to make running fun because it’s become boring, it’s time for a change. If you usually run alone, head out with someone else. If you always take the same route, go a different way, or do your route backwards – you’ll be surprised at how different everything looks. Try out a new local park or trail. This is a great way to explore new parts of the city or town where you live!
3 – Train for an Event
When I say this, I don’t necessarily mean a race or a marathon. I’m personally not ready for that kind of commitment. I don’t know if that will make running more fun for me, or just take away the parts of it that I enjoy. Instead, my goal is to take part in a charity run where some people really do run it, some jog and some walk. I want to be able to do the whole thing without taking a walking break. So, that’s my goal, and that’s what I’m training for. It’s giving me purpose, which is making things much more interesting!
